When to Book Injectables for the Holidays

November 3, 2018 / by Dr. Brian Dorner

The holidays are the perfect time to spread laughter and cheer. It’s the season of office parties, family get-togethers, and an excuse for old friends to see each other. You’ll likely see people whom you only get the chance to visit once a year. With non-stop photo and video ops around every corner, it only makes sense that you’d want to look your best.

Luckily, putting your best face forward has never been so easy. Botox® and Dysport® can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers can fill in lines, plump lips, and restore age-related volume loss throughout the face.

At Dorner Plastic Surgery, we encourage our patients to schedule their injectable appointments well before any big event. Here’s Why:

  • It can take time for injectables to work.
  • You may need more than one treatment to achieve the look you want.
  • Post-treatment swelling and/or bruising can occur.
  • Results from injectables are often long-lasting.

Botox® and Dysport®

If you’d like to achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance with Botox® or Dysport®, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time for the treatment to ‘kick in’. While some results can be seen in just a few days, an optimal outcome may take 2-weeks or more. Happily, your procedure can last upwards of 4-6 months and can carry you through Thanksgiving and into the New Year.

Dermal Fillers

When opting for dermal fillers, you may want to schedule a few lower-dosage treatments rather than a single one-and-done treatment. Especially if it’s your first time getting fillers, breaking up appointments can create a naturally youthful appearance without being ‘overdone’. Results vary from filler to filler, but in most cases, you’ll look great for about 1-year after treatment. So, why wait?

Even when properly applied, injectables can leave you with minor redness or swelling which can be difficult to cover with makeup. In the unlikely event of bruising occurs at the injection site, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to heal before any social events.

It’s important to remember not all injectables are created equal. Depending on the injectable and treatment area, you may want to book your in-office visit anywhere from 2-weeks to 2-months before the holidays. At the time of your initial consultation, Dr. Dorner can customize a treatment plan to help you reach your goals before any holiday events.
