Jaw Implants
Jaw implants give a more sculpted, youthful look to your profile and face. Dr. Dorner can also personalize your jaw shape; a heart-shaped jaw looks more feminine while a square jaw gives a masculine look.
We perform jaw implant procedures in the surgery center while the patient is under general anesthesia. Incisions are made inside the mouth, ensuring they remain hidden. During the operation, the implants are positioned against the bone and secured with small screws. The entire procedure lasts about an hour, and patients can go home the same day. Most individuals return to work within a week. Some bruising and swelling are normal after the procedure, but these symptoms typically resolve within 2 to 3 weeks.
Tear Trough Implants
Tear trough implants are designed to fill the hollows under the eyes. They are particularly beneficial for patients with deep-set eyes or indentations caused by aging or genetics. These implants also complement a lower eyelid lift (blepharoplasty).
We perform tear trough implant procedures in our office or the surgical center under IV sedation or general anesthesia. A small incision is made behind the eyelid, making it invisible post-operation. The implant is placed directly on the bone and secured with either sutures or screws. The surgery typically takes less than an hour, and patients can go home the same day. Recovery usually takes about a week due to swelling. Although bruising around the eye can be unpredictable, it generally lasts 1 to 2 weeks. Notably, when a lower eyelid lift is performed with the tear trough implants, recovery time and pain levels remain similar.
Temporal Implants
As we age, we lose the fat and collagen around our temples, making us look older and more tired. Restoring that volume can give you a more youthful, revitalized look. Temporal implants provide instant, permanent augmentation through a very easy surgery.
The procedure takes about thirty minutes to perform. It can be done in the office or surgery center under IV or general anesthesia. Patients go home the same day and recovery is minimal. Most people will return to work within one to two days. To fit your unique face and head shape, we offer different sizes and shapes of temporal implants. Dr. Dorner hides incisions within the hair, where they heal very well.
Custom Implants
Custom implants are an advancing area of facial implants, enhanced by 3D printing technology. First we use a CT scan to provide the basis for a computer-modeled implant, and plastic models are printed for review before the actual implant is created. This allows Dr. Dorner and the patient to assess and adjust the implant.
These implants are especially useful for chin and jaw augmentation, particularly when lengthening the entire jaw, as well as for enhancing the orbital rim, zygomatic bone, and lower mid-face. When considering two or more implants, custom options could be a better option.The procedure takes about thirty minutes to perform. The placement procedure resembles that of traditional implants, but these custom designs fit directly onto the skeleton. Longer jaw implants are inserted through two incisions — one inside the mouth and another for the chin implant — allowing for a smooth, continuous placement.
