About the Mommy Makeover
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Dorner frequently meets with women who desire to have their pre-pregnancy body back. Even though childbirth is a miraculous, wonderful moment in a woman’s life, it often will alter the look, shape, and size of various body parts — and can leave one feeling frustrated. The great news is that it is possible to once again attain a slimmer, smooth physique thanks to the help of the mommy makeover surgery performed at Dorner Plastic Surgery in the Dublin and Columbus, OH area. This surgery uses a blend of fat removal and skin tightening to target the stomach and breasts, as well as other areas affected by pregnancy — basically, any area affected by weight gain or nursing can be addressed. In addition, nonsurgical treatments can be used to enhance surface irregularities, such as hyperpigmentation and discoloration, from the rapid fluctuation and stretching of the skin during pregnancy.
"I will ONLY GO TO HIM!!! He did an amazing job! I researched for years and finally picked Dr. Dorner!!! I’m the first they asked years ago to do a video testimony on my experience of Breast Augmentation, and last I seen, I am still on his website 7 years later!! “Kim from Clyde”! He is seriously amazing and I always recommend him! So far I have had 2 people also drive about 3 hours to go to him and they thank me to this day for my recommendation and are so happy with their results!!!"- K.S. / Healthgrades / Jun 14, 2020
"Dr. Dorner and his staff are absolutely fantastic! From the consultation through surgery and post-op appointments they have been phenomenal. I feel like I’m part of the family when I go in to see him. Everyone is so friendly. I didn’t feel rushed through my appointments and I felt like he really listened to my concerns and was willing to answer any and all of my questions. I’m 2 weeks post surgery (liposuction) and I’m very pleased with my results. I can’t wait to see them after I’m fully recovered. If you’re thinking about having anything done I highly recommend Dorner Plastic Surgery. They are the best!"- M.A. / Google / Jun 11, 2020
"I wish I could give more than five stars; AMAZING experience! I've struggled to build muscle/bulk in certain areas of my body my whole life and decided it was time to take action. For about 6 months, I researched options and plastic surgeons, mostly based in LA and NY. I luckily stumbled across Dr. Dorner in my search and I'm so glad I found him. The whole staff is very friendly, supportive, smart and very accommodating. Dr. Dorner made recommendations based on the results I was trying to achieve and I have to say, he knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend Dorner Plastic Surgery."- R.C. / Google / Nov 23, 2019

"When All else Fails - If you've read my first procedure review, you know what's happening. If not, I'll give a brief synopsis for you.Back in 2016; I worked my a** off, literally. After losing 90 pounds I was left with stubborn belly fat and saggy skin around my abdomen. It was really affecting me and my view of my body. I worked extremely hard and felt I had nothing to show for it. Enter in, Dr. Dorner.I had my tummy tuck with muscle repair and liposuction done in September of 2016. 12 weeks into recovery..........Pregnant.I was extremely worried. I had just had this major abdominal surgery and now it was going to be undone; would it be okay for the baby, is it going to be too tight, would there be any complications? I had an amazing OB/GYN and it turned out her brother is a plastic surgeon. She said that she has had several patients that have had a tummy tuck and then had babies, with little complications, although they hadn't been as soon after.Long story short, everything turned out fine. I was fine, baby was fine (although she was breech and we couldn't get her to turn - no matter how hard we tried) and she was born in August of 2017.During my pregnancy I gained about 29 pounds. After my pregnancy, I gained additional weight. You know....new baby, whatever sleep I could get, nursing..these things took priority. I have managed to lose 23 pounds. So that's great, but it hasn't been lost from where I want. I've been trying hard, not as hard as before but still hard and the fats just not budging.I saw Dr. Dorner today for a consultation; after looking at the areas around my hips, he agreed and said he could perform liposuction with no issues. He did ask if I had had any drastic weight loss prior to my tummy tuck because I have more skin than he'd expect for someone who gained a small amount during pregnancy. I can't fault him for asking, I doubt he remembers my previous history, so I said yes. He briefly mentioned a posterior body tuck which I guess is like a tummy tuck for the backside. No thanks. Just the lipo please. I can live with my cellulite and not have to finance a down payment on a house. The quote was less than I imagined so I'm fairly certain this is going to happen. Just have to plan when; it looks like it will be shortly before mother's day, he's good at what he does and books out pretty far, plus it'll be my gift to myself."- M. / RealSelf / Mar 10, 2020
The right candidates for this surgery are those who have gone through childbearing, and have worked to achieve a slimmer look through a clean diet with little result. In many post-pregnancy cases, surgery is needed to regain their pre-pregnancy body. If you have completed childbearing but you are unhappy with the effects left behind, such as deflated, sagging breasts, loose abdominal skin, or unwanted pockets of fat in the hips, flanks, lower back, and buttocks, a mommy makeover procedure could be perfect for you. The goal of Dr. Dorner is to help you get back your pre-pregnancy shape so you can resume life without feeling self-conscious.
A mommy makeover is a unique treatment, tailored for women by plastic surgeon Dr. Dorner based on the specific body areas to be corrected. Many procedures can be considered together — the most common treatments are a breast lift, breast implants, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. These surgeries are performed using general anesthesia, taking 3 – 7 hours based upon the number of treatments. In addition, an overnight stay at the hospital may be needed. Your treatment plan might also include nonsurgical methods, such as laser treatments and injectables, to soften facial lines and reduce surface imperfections.
What to Expect
After spending some time in our recovery area, you will begin your recovery at home with rest. Walking will be hard for the first few days, and a thorough, home care protocol will be required to make sure the incisions and sutures heal properly. Most women find that the healing phase can take about six months. Even though the primary recovery could take months, most patients are able to resume a normal routine within a couple of weeks. Working out should wait for about two months. In the end, this surgery at Dorner Plastic Surgery can be life changing for women, allowing them to love the way they look and feel once again.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a mommy makeover cost?
The cost of a mommy makeover can vary greatly depending on what you are including in your surgery. In your consultation, Dr. Dorner will need to create your treatment plan before he can estimate your costs. A mommy makeover is an investment in reclaiming your body and confidence after pregnancy and childbirth, so it is important to focus on getting the results you want instead of the lowest cost. Dorner Plastic Surgery accepts many payment options and we can help you find low-interest medical financing so your mommy makeover is as affordable as possible.
How do I decide what to include in my mommy makeover?
In your initial consultation with Dr. Dorner, he will listen to your needs and concerns before examining your body. After this, he can make recommendations on what should be a part of your mommy makeover. Most women include breast surgery (augmentation and/or a lift) along with liposuction and a body lift.
What about nonsurgical treatments?
Pregnancy and childbirth can take a toll on your body, so nonsurgical treatments are usually not enough to get the results you want. During your consultation, Dr. Dorner can discuss both surgical and nonsurgical options. Based on your needs and goals, he will let you know if treatments like nonsurgical fat reduction (for example, CoolSculpting) or nonsurgical skin tightening (for example, ultherapy) can be considered.
Will I have scars?
While a mommy makeover offers a beautiful new shape, it does include some scarring. Dr. Dorner will make every effort possible to create clean incisions that are as small as possible. Most scars that result from this surgery will be able to be concealed with undergarments or swimsuits. As part of your recovery instructions, Dr. Dorner or a member of his team will go over scar care so your incisions heal properly.
What if I get pregnant again?
In a perfect world, you should wait to have a mommy makeover until after all pregnancies have been completed so the surgical results are not compromised. Generally, any body part that has been lifted or tightened would be at risk for stretching out if a subsequent pregnancy were to occur. If you get pregnant after your mommy makeover, a second surgery can be performed to refresh your results.
