"I will ONLY GO TO HIM!!! He did an amazing job! I researched for years and finally picked Dr. Dorner!!! I’m the first they asked years ago to do a video testimony on my experience of Breast Augmentation, and last I seen, I am still on his website 7 years later!! “Kim from Clyde”! He is seriously amazing and I always recommend him! So far I have had 2 people also drive about 3 hours to go to him and they thank me to this day for my recommendation and are so happy with their results!!!"- K.S. / Healthgrades / Jun 14, 2020
"I wish I could give more than five stars; AMAZING experience! I've struggled to build muscle/bulk in certain areas of my body my whole life and decided it was time to take action. For about 6 months, I researched options and plastic surgeons, mostly based in LA and NY. I luckily stumbled across Dr. Dorner in my search and I'm so glad I found him. The whole staff is very friendly, supportive, smart and very accommodating. Dr. Dorner made recommendations based on the results I was trying to achieve and I have to say, he knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend Dorner Plastic Surgery."- R.C. / Google / Nov 23, 2019

"When All else Fails - If you've read my first procedure review, you know what's happening. If not, I'll give a brief synopsis for you.Back in 2016; I worked my a** off, literally. After losing 90 pounds I was left with stubborn belly fat and saggy skin around my abdomen. It was really affecting me and my view of my body. I worked extremely hard and felt I had nothing to show for it. Enter in, Dr. Dorner.I had my tummy tuck with muscle repair and liposuction done in September of 2016. 12 weeks into recovery..........Pregnant.I was extremely worried. I had just had this major abdominal surgery and now it was going to be undone; would it be okay for the baby, is it going to be too tight, would there be any complications? I had an amazing OB/GYN and it turned out her brother is a plastic surgeon. She said that she has had several patients that have had a tummy tuck and then had babies, with little complications, although they hadn't been as soon after.Long story short, everything turned out fine. I was fine, baby was fine (although she was breech and we couldn't get her to turn - no matter how hard we tried) and she was born in August of 2017.During my pregnancy I gained about 29 pounds. After my pregnancy, I gained additional weight. You know....new baby, whatever sleep I could get, nursing..these things took priority. I have managed to lose 23 pounds. So that's great, but it hasn't been lost from where I want. I've been trying hard, not as hard as before but still hard and the fats just not budging.I saw Dr. Dorner today for a consultation; after looking at the areas around my hips, he agreed and said he could perform liposuction with no issues. He did ask if I had had any drastic weight loss prior to my tummy tuck because I have more skin than he'd expect for someone who gained a small amount during pregnancy. I can't fault him for asking, I doubt he remembers my previous history, so I said yes. He briefly mentioned a posterior body tuck which I guess is like a tummy tuck for the backside. No thanks. Just the lipo please. I can live with my cellulite and not have to finance a down payment on a house. The quote was less than I imagined so I'm fairly certain this is going to happen. Just have to plan when; it looks like it will be shortly before mother's day, he's good at what he does and books out pretty far, plus it'll be my gift to myself."- M. / RealSelf / Mar 10, 2020
"I had an amazing experience undergoing Ultherapy with Christine at Dorner Plastic Surgery. I was a bit worried about the pain going into the treatment, however, Christine was able to keep my discomfort to an absolute minimum. I would highly recommend this non-invasive, essentially painless treatment!"- A.S. / Google / Jan 18, 2020
Cheek Augmentation Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates for cheek augmentation are men and women who:
- Want fuller cheeks
- Have age-related volume loss in their cheeks
- Have naturally flat or hollow cheeks
- Have lost a significant amount of weight, resulting in deflated cheeks
- Have asymmetry in their cheeks caused by genetics, a health condition, or an injury
- Are in overall good health
Dermal fillers are a good option for patients who want to avoid the time and expense of surgery. Since dermal fillers are temporary, it can also help patients get a better idea of the amount of volume and lift they want before committing to surgical cheek augmentation. Cheek implants are better for those who want a longer-lasting solution and are able to commit time to recovery after surgery.
Cheek Augmentation Surgical Technique
Prior to your procedure, Dr. Dorner will perform a detailed exam to create a treatment plan that is ideal for your unique facial structure. During your consultation, you will decide on your preferred method: cheek implants or dermal fillers.
Dermal fillers can be performed in our facility as an outpatient procedure in about 20 – 30 minutes. With fillers, the points of injection will be marked along the hollows of the cheeks. Then, the fillers will be gently injected into the cheeks and massaged to create an even fullness. You will be able to leave immediately after the procedure and continue your normal activities.
Surgical cheek augmentation is an outpatient procedure that is performed in an accredited facility since patients are usually put under with general anesthesia. Once you are prepped, small incisions will be created inside the mouth through the upper gums so a pocket can be made over the cheekbone. Then, the implants will be securely placed and the incisions will be sutured. The surgery usually takes about an hour, and you will be released to a responsible adult to recover at home.
What to Expect with Cheek Augmentation
With surgery, you should expect to experience bruising, tightness, and swelling for 1 – 2 weeks following your procedure. Vigorous activity that will cause your facial muscles to strain (like weight lifting) should be avoided for 7 – 10 days. Optimal healing usually takes about two months, but the results are long lasting.
With dermal fillers, your face may feel tender or sore with minor swelling for about 3 – 5 days. Ice packs and over-the-counter pain relievers can be used to ease your discomfort. Optimal results are usually seen in 10 – 14 days. Follow-up treatments will be needed as fillers are a temporary treatment.
Cheek Augmentation Frequently Asked Questions
How much does cheek augmentation cost?
The cost of your procedure may vary, depending on the method of augmentation used. During your consultation and the procedure planning process, Dr. Dorner will be able to provide you with a better estimate of your out-of-pocket costs. We can also discuss financial planning options and the payment methods we accept at Dorner Plastic Surgery.
What is the difference between upper and lower cheek implants?
Lower cheek implants are very similar to upper cheek implants, except that they improve the loss of volume in the lower portion of the cheek. Many times, these can be combined with upper cheek implants to further improve facial definition. These implants are used mostly in patients with aging faces.
What if I have an asymmetrical face?
It is not uncommon to experience facial asymmetry. However, if you are concerned about not having a mirror-like reflection, Dr. Dorner can assess your options for creating the symmetry you desire. With cheek augmentation procedure, he can help create balance to you facial appearance.
Can I have a fat grafting performed to fill in my cheeks?
Yes. Much like implants, facial fat grafting can restore volume and create a fuller appearance to the cheeks while utilizing your own fat. As a more natural approach, facial fat grafting to the cheeks has become increasingly popular. To learn more and to determine if facial fat grafting would be ideal for you, contact Dorner Plastic Surgery to set up a examination and consultation at our Dublin, OH facility.
